Obsidian, the grizzly bear, with her 3 cubs in Yellowstone National Park
In mid-May, with snow still dusting the ground in Yellowstone National Park, I had the fortune of encountering the legendary grizzly bear known as "Obsidian" with her three 2.5-year-old cubs one morning as they strolled along the roadside in search of food. They followed the path of the road, weaving in and out of the woods and disappearing for moments at a time. At one point, the family marched up a snow-covered incline. As they crested and headed back down toward me, I was able to capture this frame of all four lined up in a row.
